The API TranZformer CMP will equip your pedalboard with the same studio-quality dynamics processing that launched a thousand hit records. This guitar effects pedal abounds with signature API sound, courtesy of a 527 VCA-style compressor circuit, a 2510 op-amp, and a muscular-sounding transformer output. What's more, this stompbox was engineered for high-performance operation with a standard 9-volt power supply. The TranZformer CMP offers both feed-forward and feedback compression for added sonic versatility, along with adjustable attack and release times and an ultra-useful dry/wet knob. The TranZformer CMP boasts high-quality buffered bypass switching to ensure an optimal signal, even if your rig includes arena-sized cable runs. An easy-to-see indicator LED rounds out the TranZformer CMP's outstanding features.

Studio-level dynamics processing

The TranZformer CMP puts studio-precise dynamics processing right at your feet. This compressor pedal's Input knob yields +9dB to +30dB of gain; more gain equals more compression. The Sustain knob determines the amount of gain reduction; higher levels lower the threshold for more compression. The Output knob delivers -inf. to 0dB of level control; fully clockwise exhibits 0dB (zero level cut). You also get Fast/Slow Attack and Release switches that offer 1ms/10ms for attack and 300ms/1s for release. The guitarists here at Sweetwater have found the Blend control to be one of the TranZformer CMP's most useful features, enabling you to dial in hyper-transparent compression in any application.

Classic meets modern

There are two types of compression onboard the API TranZformer CMP: "old" and "new." The old style uses the feedback type of compression found on the classic early-'70s 525; the new style uses a feed-forward type similar to many popular modern compressors.
